It can be hard to know who will be best for your party when you have never hired anyone before, so here are some important tips to help you navigate your way through the jungle of entertainers and find the best one for you.

When looking for an entertainer you want quality, reliability and someone who will captivate your guests for hours. It can be hard to know who will be best for your party when you have never hired anyone before, so here are some important tips to help you navigate your way through the jungle of entertainers and find the best one for you.

1. Communicate! Make sure you ask plenty of questions when making an enquiry, ask to talk to the actual entertainer who will be attending the event so you can get an idea of their personality, energy and passion. Request to see a picture of them or find out how long they have been in the industry.

2. Look out for trends in the business. If their website is professional and their customer service is excellent, it is likely their entertainment is high quality too. If they look unreliable or lacking presentation skills, it could be likely that other areas are not up to scratch as well.

3. It may seem a little unjust to judge a business's entertainers on intangible qualities like logos or websites but there is a lot of truth in the saying first impressions count. If the first impression is not impeccable then why would other aspects of the business be any better?

4. Talk to your child about the type of entertainer they want, look at pictures on websites and get a sense for how they want the character to look and what games and activities they want. The clearer you are and more specific about what you want, the more likely you will find someone who can give you exactly what you want.

5. It is crucial to get someone with experience, who knows how to handle large and small groups of children in all types of settings. This is more important then getting someone who looks right. If an entertainer can captivate the children it wont matter what they look like, the kids will have fun and love the character regardless!

6. When talking to the event organiser on the phone and gathering quotes or comparing packages ask them to send you more information via email or post so you have something substantial to look at when you are making your decision.

7. Having something written from the company will give you a feel for another aspect of their presentation and management and will help you judge their organisation, reliability in following up and the degree to which they value you as a customer.
